WARDOGS Ammunition Guide: Calibers, Magazines and Round Types
Choose compatible WARDOGS ammunition, compare cartridge and magazine quantities, and understand how range, armor and round variants affect a loadout.
How do you choose the right ammunition in WARDOGS?
Start with the weaponβs accepted cartridge and magazine, then choose the round variant. A similar-looking caliber name is not enough. Check the weapon record and the current purchase screen before filling inventory with ammunition it cannot use.

The ammunition database contains 154 community records, including cartridges, magazines and specialist rounds. Those are item records, not 154 distinct calibers.
Which common weapons use the same caliber label?
| Community caliber label | Example weapon records |
|---|---|
| 5.56Γ45 | M4, Galil, A-91, M249 SAW, Scout Rifle TD |
| 5.45Γ39 | AK74 |
| 7.62Γ39 | SKS |
| 7.62Γ54 | SVD, SV98, Mosin Nagant, PKM |
| .308 Win | FAL, BMR-308, MK22 |
| 9Γ19 | AMP-9, MP5, PP-19 Vityaz, GGX 17, GGX 18 |
| .45 ACP | Super-45, M1911 |
| 12 Gauge | MP43, M500 |
Find the exact platform in the weapon list. Launchers and bows require their own compatible ammunition; they do not use the rifle and pistol families above.
Does matching caliber make magazines interchangeable?
No. Cartridge compatibility and magazine compatibility are separate checks. Two weapons may fire the same cartridge while accepting different magazine shapes or capacities.
Before buying, inspect the accepted item name, supplied quantity and inventory space. Standardizing a squad on one cartridge may simplify discussion, but it does not prove automatic sharing, free resupply or a cheaper bill.
How do you compare ammunition prices fairly?
Compare the same quantity and item form. A box of cartridges and a loaded magazine may have different prices and supplied amounts.
For example, the community .308 records list 10 rounds at $40 for the basic entry, $70 for HP and $180 for AP. These are snapshot examples, not current shop quotes. Read the quantity field before comparing a single displayed price, then check the actual menu for the charge.

Is AP or HP always the best round?
No. Choose for the target and conditions. A name such as armor-piercing or hollow point describes a variant, but it does not establish the result against every protection setup.
Use the TTK calculator with the same weapon, range, hit location and armor while changing only the round. Combine that comparison with the cost and quantity you can carry.
Do bullet drop and cover affect shots?
Yes. BULKHEADβs ballistic explanation includes drop, penetration through light cover and ricochets from hard surfaces. A clear shot and a shot through an obstacle are not equivalent. Range and line of sight still matter after selecting the cartridge.
For distant shots, pair this with the sniper guide. For general equipment planning, use the loadout checklist and pack around your route to resupply.
