WARDOGS Maps: Kolchia, Control Zones and Choosing a Route
Understand the WARDOGS battlefield, how a Control Zone focuses the fight, and how to choose useful routes, landmarks and transport for each match.
How big is the WARDOGS map?
Team17 describes a 256 km² battlefield with a randomized 2 × 2 km Control Zone. The smaller zone is where player presence earns the team points. You do not need to clear the entire surrounding map to win.

Official material places the conflict in the industrial mountains of Eastern Europe and names the setting Kolchia. The important first-match question is where the active objective sits within that terrain.
Where should you go after deploying?
Find the Control Zone, locate nearby teammates and choose a covered route toward a useful position. The shortest line is not always the route that gets you there alive.
Check three things before moving:
- Boundary: will the destination put you inside the scoring area or support an entry?
- Approach: which crossings expose you to the two enemy teams?
- Fallback: where can you move if the first route is blocked?
The Control Zone guide explains why the boundary matters, while the landmarks guide helps turn terrain into clear callouts.
Why does the same map play differently between matches?
The objective location changes which ground is valuable. A factory that mattered in one match may be far from the next scoring area. Roads, rooftops and river crossings become useful because of the route they serve.
Recheck the map instead of repeating the previous match’s drive or firing position. A familiar place can still be approached from a different enemy direction.

When should you take a vehicle?
When it solves a useful movement or support problem. Arrange a ride if the infantry route is long or exposed, and choose a destination that lets passengers contribute.
The ground transport guide covers drop-off planning. Helicopters can move players and supplies, but their route and landing area also need protection.
How does destruction change route planning?
A building you used for cover can lose that protection during the match. Official examples include apartment blocks damaged by rockets. Reassess openings and sightlines as the terrain changes.
Keep a fallback when using a structure as a strongpoint. The building guide connects that decision with FOB placement.
Do you need to memorize every landmark?
No. Learn the routes around the active objective first. Pick a few recognizable features, communicate them clearly and learn how to travel between them. Add names as you encounter the places.
For available maps and rotations, use the current server listing. Older counts and community labels are not a substitute for the map you are joining.
