What genre of game is WARDOGS?

WARDOGS is a tactical 100-player, 3-team King of the Hill (KotH) combined-arms warfare FPS. Set in a persistent near-future theater of operations, each match pits three independent private military factions against one another across sprawling 4km x 4km battlefields. Unlike traditional military shooters, WARDOGS is neither a Battle Royale nor an Extraction Shooter:

• Not a Battle Royale: There is no shrinking electrical circle, no random ground loot scavenging, and no permadeath elimination. Players respawn continuously using squad Forward Operating Bases, Mobile Respawn Trucks, or faction staging bases as long as match tickets remain.
• Not an Extraction Shooter: There are no extraction helicopters, stash inventory wipes, or insurance claims. Victory is determined strictly by capturing and holding the moving 500-meter objective until reaching 100 points, as explained in our guide on KotH Mode Explained.
• Combined-Arms Sandbox: Infantry, armored main battle tanks, wheeled troop transports, scout cars, rocket attack helicopters, and player-manned 155mm field artillery operate simultaneously within the same unified server simulation.

How much does WARDOGS cost, and are there microtransactions?

WARDOGS launches into Steam Early Access with a standard base price of $39.99 USD (with regional currency pricing across Steam international storefronts).

The Zero Pay-To-Win Pledge

Developer Bulkhead and publisher Team17 have committed to a strict Zero Pay-to-Win Pledge:

1. No Gameplay Purchases: There are no real-money purchases for weapons, armor, ammunition, vehicles, or tactical attachments. Every piece of equipment is purchased strictly with in-game cash earned through combat actions, revives, and objective captures during the match.

3. Cosmetic Gold Bar Conversion: Cosmetic weapon camouflage patterns, tactical berets, and vehicle decals are unlocked using Gold Bars. Crucially, Gold Bars cannot be bought with credit cards; they are earned by converting surplus in-game match winnings at faction bank terminals.

When will WARDOGS release on PS5 and Xbox consoles?

Steam Early Access is currently exclusive to PC to allow the development team to rapidly iterate on server tickrates, netcode optimization, and weapon balance.

The 2028 Console Roadmap

Bulkhead and Team17 have officially slated console editions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for 2028:

• PC 1.0 Milestone First: The console porting process will begin only after WARDOGS achieves full feature completeness and exits Steam Early Access on PC.
• Cross-Platform Play: Full cross-play and cross-progression between PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S is planned for the 1.0 console launch, featuring platform-level matchmaking filters (e.g., controller-only lobbies).
