WARDOGS Beginner Guide: Your First Loadout and Match
Learn how to win your first WARDOGS match: spend the starting $10,000, reach the Control Zone, earn through teamwork and recover after a bad life.
What should you do in your first WARDOGS match?
Help your team reach and hold the Control Zone. Up to 100 players fight across three teams; the team with the most players inside the scoring area earns points, and the first to 100 wins. Start near teammates and learn one approach to the objective before buying specialist equipment.

Carry a weapon you understand, travel with the group and stay inside the zone while watching an approach. A kill outside the boundary can remove a threat, but it does not replace friendly presence. The Control Zone guide explains where your presence counts.
Can you play now, and what should you set up first?
Steam lists Early Access for September 10, 2026. The advertised September 3–6 closed beta has ended. Check your Steam library and announcements for access; a preorder does not keep an ended test open.
Before joining, check movement, aim, reload, interaction, map and voice bindings in the game settings. Test your microphone and find the mute controls. Proximity voice chat makes communication part of your first deployment. For hardware and purchase questions, see the game overview.
How should you spend the starting $10,000?
Buy for one task and leave money for the next life. The starting balance belongs to your continuing account economy; it is not a fresh allowance every time you respawn. Each life requires a new equipment purchase.
- Primary weapon: can you afford to replace it after an early death?
- Ammunition: does it fit the weapon, and is there enough for the route?
- Protection and utility: does each item support the job you intend to do?
- Remaining cash: can you buy another useful kit after a failed attempt?
Use the loadout guide to choose a role. The weapon database compares community-recorded equipment; the in-game purchase screen gives the price you will actually pay.

How can you help if you are losing gunfights?
Play the objective, revive teammates when equipped to do so, or transport friendlies. These are rewarded team actions, so a useful match does not require leading the kill count.
Choose a task you can finish safely. Use cover, wait for teammates before crossing exposed ground and watch the third team’s route. Before taking a medical or vehicle role, check its required equipment and controls.

The Hot Zone offers double cash, but a crowded fight can cost your entire kit. Learn a normal route first, then use the cash guide to compare earning opportunities with replacement costs.
What should you change after dying?
Fix the reason for the death before increasing your spending. An exposed route calls for a different approach; an empty weapon calls for an ammunition check; an unfamiliar control calls for practice; an isolated fight calls for teammates.
Change one part of the next attempt so you can tell whether it helped. A more expensive weapon will not fix a route visible to both enemy teams. Review the next purchase against your remaining cash in the economy guide.
Which faction and progression track should you choose?
Join your group and equip for the job in front of you. Compare LONESTAR, VALKYRA and MANTICORE in the faction guide; no published faction damage or price bonus establishes a strongest starting side.
For an unlock, look up your role in progression and match it to the requirement shown in game. Unlocking access and having enough cash to buy an item are separate checks. Once you can complete a useful life, open the field reference for your next specific question.
